Abbotabad is the gateway to the Himalayas,Karakorum and Hindukash hills which penetrates to various hill stations of KPK,Northern Areas,Gilgit & Baltistan and finally leads to China through Karakorum Highways (KKH the old Silk Route). It is located 71 kms away from Hassanabdal, between Sarban and Shimla Hills as the last big city on the KKH.Being having elevation point of 3,991 feet above sea level (ASL),the city presents pictorial beauty of a very high level. This city is named after James Abbot,a British Administrator,who founded it in 1853 AD. it is the point from where we can plan visits of many places like as Murree 70 kms,Ayoubia 38 kms Nathia Gali 34 kms,Harnoi 13 kms,Kala Pani 19 kms,Thandiani 30 kms etc. There are many sights of worth seeing in the city including Company Bagh, Ayoub Medical College,Chinar and Hill roads, Ilyasi Mosque,Ghora Chowk,Jalal Baba Auditorium,Shimla Hill, Cricket Ground and Sarban etc.
